ca. 1906-1910 Black Motor Buggy Model 112

The Black Manufacturing Co. of Chicago produced highwheelers under the name of Chicago Motor Buggy from about 1906 until 1909. Thought by some to be a transitional vehicle from the horse-drawn buggy, the highwheeler actually originated in the Chicago area in response to the need for a motor vehicle with road clearance suitable for deeply rutted out-of-town roads.
