1919 Harley-Davidson Model J

1919 Harley-Davidson Model J

Originally designed for military use in 1915, Harley-Davidson repurposed production of the Model J to serve civilian customers in 1919. The major change between the military and civilian Model Js was the paint, trading military olive drab for a shiny olive green. The Model J was also the first Harley-Davidson to use a kick-starter instead of pedals.
