ca. 1940 Wright Cyclone GR-2600

The Wright Cyclone is a popular series of radial, air-cooled piston engines developed and produced during the 1930s and 1940s. The GR-2600 was part of the Cyclone 14 family of engines where a two rows of seven cylinders generated over 1500hp. In 1928, Boeing installed four of these engines on their passenger carrying flying boat, the 314 Clipper. This made regular transatlantic flights became a reality for commercial aviation.
